Remko Tel of RT Administratie on planning and workload

The Dutch trade title Accountancy van Morgen published a piece with Remko Tel of RT Administratie about the benefits of Offsoo at a time of high workload and a tight labour market. The article is in Dutch; what follows is a summary of it, not a translation of any statement.

One remark belongs up front. Remko Tel is not only an Offsoo user: as the owner of RT Administratie he stood at the origin of the package together with software developer Ruben Bergmans. That does not make his judgement less relevant — it explains where the starting points came from — but it is not an independent reference, and that belongs on the record.

Where the problem started

The trigger will be familiar to most bookkeeping practices: planning recurring work is complex, error-prone and time-consuming. Not because the work itself is complicated, but because it has to be redistributed across the same clients and the same people every period — and because little of that process is visible.

Offsoo grew out of that practical experience, together with a team of specialists: planning software built around the rhythm of a bookkeeping practice rather than around a project structure.

What the article says the package does

Offsoo goes further than monthly, quarterly and annual overviews. It gives insight into periodically recurring tasks, priorities and forecasts, and shows the current status per client — which tasks are finished and what is still open. That lets a firm anticipate rather than observe after the fact.

The planning can also be extended with time tracking and client management, making it usable in different office settings: from a firm that only wants to record the planning to one that wants hours and client files in the same environment.

Why that matters most under pressure

The point carrying the most weight in the article is not about features. It is about calm: when what is open and who holds it is visible, less has to be chased, less has to be remembered and less has to be repaired. In a period of high workload and hard-to-fill vacancies, that is the difference between steering and firefighting.

For the individual employee the gain is accessibility: the data is available through the mobile app as well, and switching between planning, hours and client details happens within the same environment.

What this story is and is not

This is one firm, with its own situation and with a founder's role in the product. It is not representative research and not a case backed by figures. What it does show is the problem that sat at the origin of Offsoo — and that problem is the same at most bookkeeping practices.
